Gretchen Mullins Kim P.C.

An Experienced Attorney at Law

Client Reviews
Martindale Hubble ★★★★★ ★★★★★

Gretchen Mullins Kim is a knowledgeable and compassionate attorney, with almost 25 years experience practicing law in New York State. Ms. Kim opened her own law practice in September 2001, with an emphasis in matrimonial law, and has represented clients in uncontested and contested divorce matters, child support, custody, paternity, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, spousal support, and international custody disputes under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction Treaty.

Ms. Kim is also a skilled appellate lawyer having perfected numerous appeals in both the First and Second Departments. She wrote the appellate briefs to the Second Department and the New York Court of Appeals in the often-cited matrimonial case, Mahoney-Buntzman v. Buntzman, a case in which she was co-counsel from its inception, and through the extensive trial and subsequent appeals.

Based upon Ms. Kim’s professional background, she has the unique combination of having received her initial legal training at a large corporate New York City law firm, Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, and also having spent several years as a lawyer for a nonprofit, My Sisters' Place. As a result of her experience as a litigation associate at Stroock, she is skilled in doing legal research and is adept at writing legal motions and briefs.  Moreover, she is knowledgeable about complex financial issues and comfortable with matters involving significant document productions.

During her years as the director of the legal center for My Sisters' Place, she learned firsthand about promoting justice and she received valuable training in client-management skills, which often required more than an understanding of the law, but how to help clients cope with the real-life implications of their legal matters.  Further, Ms. Kim became proficient in communicating effectively (dropping the “legalese”) in order to explain the purpose and strategy of the legal proceedings in a clear and understandable manner to her clients.

On a personal note, Ms. Kim is an avid supporter of the Yonkers Public Schools, having been an active member of her children’s schools’ PTAs for the last 15 years. She enjoys traveling (especially road trips), reading, writing, volunteering, and baking.
